Alamo Heights identifies and serves elementary students who demonstrate general intellectual ability identified by:

Goals
*To assist students to become self-directed learners.
*To provide students with a curriculum that is a blending of advanced content and thinking skills.
*To provide opportunities for students to work in interest areas.
*To encourage students to become creative producers.
*To assist students in developing a keener awareness  of their own talents, a positive self-concept, and an appreciation of their value to self and others.


HEIGHTS Testing Dates 2018-2019

3rd & 4th Grade
September 12th at 6:00 in the Cambridge Library 
        HEIGHTS GT Testing Informational Meeting for 
3rd & 4th Grade Parents.
Parent and Teacher Nominations due by September 13, 2018.
Testing: 4th Grade - Fridays September 14- October 12, 2018
Testing: 3rd Grade - Fridays October 12-November 16, 2018


*District-wide testing for all 5th Grade students- January 14-18, 2019


2nd Grade
November 26th at 6:00 in the Cambridge Library

Testing:

1st Grade

Testing:  1st Grade    Fridays, January 22 - March 29


Kindergarten
January 8th in the Howard Library 
         HEIGHTS GT Testing Informational Meeting for 
Kinder Parents at Howard.
Parent and Teacher Nominations due by February 11, 2019.
Testing:  Kindergarteners - February 22 - February25, 2019. 

GT Consideration and Appeals 

GT Consideration: All parents who want to have their children formally considered for the Alamo Heights ISD Gifted & Talented Program must follow campus procedures for initial evaluation.  Outside testing will only be considered if your child has gone through the formal process in place with Alamo Heights ISD for the current school year.

Appeal Process: After reviewing the Student Summary Profile Sheet, you may have concerns about placement.

*Contact the G/T Department and request an appeal form.

*Complete and submit an appeal form within 15 days of selection committee notification.

*Selection committee will review the appeal and notify parents of decision.

*Parents must declare outside testing intent within 15 days of appeal decision. 

*For current students, outside testing results must be submitted by May 1st of the current school year.
