Homework

A BIOGRAPHY BOX

For the next two weeks, your homework will be to research a person who was influential in Texas history and create a biography box about them. Circle your choice:

  • Susanna Dickinson
  • James Bowie
  • James Butler Bonham
  • William Barret Travis

RESEARCH:

You can check out books from the library about the person you choose. Or you could get the permission of an adult and use the internet to research them. Here are some websites you could use:

https://texashistory.unt.edu/

http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/

http://www.sonofthesouth.net/texas/index.htm

https://www.tsl.texas.gov/treasures/republic/index.html

https://www.thestoryoftexas.com/discover/texas-history-timeline

DIRECTIONS:

Make a box and fill it with meaningful items, or keepsakes, that your person might have kept. For example, William Barret Travis might have kept some of his law books in his box of keepsakes. You could create a little booklet and label it so people know what it is. Or you could put a little baby rattle in a keepsake box for Susanna Dickinson.
