Meet Ms. Hancock...
"At Cambridge...Our Character is BLOOMING!"
I am so excited to be a part of the Cambridge family! Both of my children have attended school here in Alamo Heights since Pre-K and have loved being at Howard ECC, Cambridge, AHJS, and at AHHS. My oldest daughter will begin her second year of college this Fall and my youngest will be a senior at AHHS,
This is my 17th year to teach at Cambridge and I love our school community! I have been teaching for 27 years and am happy to be starting my 28th year of teaching here with all of our children in Alamo Heights.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas State University (SWT) in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Early Childhood Education. I have taught many grades including Kindergarten for 7 years, 1st grade for 2 years, and 6 years in 2nd grade.
I hold a Masters of Science Degree in Reading and am both a certified Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher (MRT). I have worked as a Reading Specialist and MRT at Lake Dallas High School with at-risk 9th-12th graders and in McKinney ISD with 3rd-5th graders. In 2017 I completed a second Masters degree in Special Education at Texas Tech University's Texas Teaching Institute through the Burkhart Center for Autism Education & Research with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA/BCBA candidate). I completed my certification coursework for Educational Leadership/Principal Certification in December and am preparing to complete my exams for the Principal certification.
I began my journey here at Cambridge in 2008 as a Special Education Resource Teacher and case manager and also served our Cambridge campus as the Special Education Dept. Chair for 4 years. I have a passion for helping all children reach their potential and love to challenge students to be curious and take chances when learning. I am thrilled to return to our special education family as an SST teacher this year! As both a parent of a child with autism and a teacher, I have a heart for supporting families and my students as they navigate their growth and learning here in Alamo Heights.
I look forward to getting to know you this year!
Warmest Regards,
Ms. Stefnie Hancock, M.Ed.-ABA/M.S.-MRT
