A
great way to keep your child motivated while sneaking in some
math/sight word practice is to give them time to use technology
(websites and apps!).
Our school has an account with IXL.com.
I have signed up each student with their own account. When you log-in
and select first grade, a variety of different skills pop up. Think back
to our conference, and if there was a specific area where they need
extra practice, have them practice those areas on IXL or have them pick
whichever area they want. When they do math through IXL, I am able to
access the problems they solve and view their progress. Please email me
and I will share your student’s access code.
I-station
is our district intervention program for Math. If your student receives
intervention from school, they get on I-Station throughout the week.
The rest of the students get on about once a month for assessment
screening. If your student is interested in accessing I-Station at home,
let me know and I will share their access code with you.
Below
are other websites and apps….technology is always changing, and so if
you find a math app that your student particularly likes, please share
with me!
First Grade Learning Games (Website and App)
If
you are interested in getting software/computer games for your
students, I have had success with students on Reader Rabbit, Jump Start
First/Second Grade, and Math Blaster. You can find them on E-bay for
cheap.
